Woods Valley Golf Club Tee Times

Woods Valley Golf Club is only a little less than three years in existence. Yet the golf course has already produced some interesting history. Woods Valley Golf Club has had several challenges, the most critical of which was the original strain of fairway grass that couldn't take the summer heat. So, over the past 12 months or so, the entire golf course has been converted to Bermuda grass.

Now all 18 holes are up and running and in excellent condition, and the property, originally owned by a homebuilder, was recently sold to a investor group.

Woods Valley features stunning tree-lined fairways and beautiful rolling slopes highlight the new 18-hole championship golf course. The golf course was designed with an emphasis on strategy and shot-making, the course winds through the community, following the natural contours of the countryside. The par 72, 6,505-yard daily fee Woods Valley course has multiple tee boxes, perfect for all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf in the country.

The course features two very distinct nines. The front nine almost feels like a desert course as it moves between raised fingers of hard pan and dry scrub brush. Most of the water is on this side, and there are some tight tee shots that can take a bite out of your score. The second nine is all about the "woods"; trees come into play on nearly every hole, and there are some really picturesque holes in the middle of the back nine. Great par 3s, all four require a carry over a hazard. Super smooth greens give a true roll, but are deceivingly difficult to read. The golf course is located only a 15-minute drive from Escondido.

Woods Valley Recent Course News

After a fairway restoration project in 2007, Woods Valley Golf Club is not resting on its laurels for 2008.

New owners purchased the Valley Center property last November and have grand designs for the new year, including lengthening five holes and adding a grill next to the pro shop.

After adding permanent yardage markers on the sprinkler heads and lengthening the par-3 eighth hole, four more holes will be extended: the par-4 first, the par-4 fourth, the par-3 16th, and the par-4 17th. Also, a set of silver tees will be added behind the gold, meaning there will now be five sets of hitting areas.

Woods Valley golf course will be a little more challenging because it will play a couple hundred yards longer than its current 6,505-yard maximum.

Other property enhancements are in the works for 2008, and the staff is hoping to accomplish as much as possible by the end of March and progress from there.
